Meranoplus are a small hairy species, recently featured by Mikey Bustos in the Philippines on his youtube channel. 
This species has been around for quite some time and has proven to be very popular.

They’re an interesting species given there body is covered in little hairs, these are a type of shield from predators , hence the nickname shield ants.

Often found in grasslands , forests and at the base of plants.  Workers forage above ground and will farm aphids for honey dew.

Temperatures are appreciated around 26-28c with a humidity ranging from 70-80%.

They can be a little fussy with foods but sugars will always win! For proteins they’ve a distinct fancy for wax worms
